COPNIH: THE STRUGGLE CONTINUES!!!!

THE CIVIL COUNCIL OF POPULAR AND INDIGENOUS ORGANIZATIONS OF HONDURAS

COPINH

TO LOCAL NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC OPINION:

We declare that the People of Honduras continue in permanent mobilization to revoke the coup d'etat against the constitutional president Manuel Zelaya.

We maintain and are strengthening our highway takeovers in departments such as Olancho, Santa Bárbara, Yoro and Colón. In cities like San Pedro Sula and La Ceiba the massive sit-ins continue in the central parks. The organized sit-in in the streets in front of the Presidential House, the current symbol of resistance, continue afoot and continues to grow. The national strike of teachers continues.

We denounce that the violation of hte guarantees of free movement continue, as people and buses in the highways have been detained and and there is an indefinite curfew. The gag law has also strengthened, as local and community radios and those commercial ones that want to give another version of what's happening besides that of the coup plotters, have been closed, destroyed or threatened. The persecution of leaders of this struggle throughout the country also continues, as do the harassment of their families and the threat of searches in their homes.

Because of all of this COPINH reiterates its call for international solidarity so that people make themselves present in this country and energetically denounce what is actually happening.

We call to our Honduran people to bravely continue this struggle of resistance and mobilize to Tegucigalpa, and also continue carrying out actions of rebellion in the communities and towns.

Hondurans, let's continue struggling with enthusiasm and conviction, let's not allow ourselves to be humiliated by those who use violence to shut us up, let's not let this coup get at our dignity and our bravery. Our struggle continues afoot. Today more than yesterday we have to raise our hopes, because justice is on our side.

With the ancestral force of Lempira, Iselaca, Etempica y Mota [Lenca gods] we raise our voices of justice, liberty, dignity and peace.

¡ AGAINST THE MILITARY COUP, AGAINST THE COUP AGAINST THE PEOPLE ¡
