Declaration of 8th General Assembly of COPINH - "Martyrs of the Resistance"

DECLARATION - 8th General Assembly of the Civil Council of Popular and Indigenous Organiations of Honduras - COPINH
“Martyrs of the Resistance Against the Coup”
In these days accompanied by clouds and cool winds we have paid homage to the fighters from amongst our people, we have spoken and agreed in the circle of our 8th General Assembly "Martyrs of the Resistance Against the Coup d'Etat," that we are aware that it is happening during a gloomy reprehensible time, but that it does not take away our hope, our dignity and the illumination given by our ancestors.
Our millenarian people, represented by many communities meeting together declares:

1-The systems of death, oppression and domination are trying to advance with their ideas and machines of death imposing on us economic models that further exploitation, consumerism and advanced plunder not just with decadent capitalism but with other systems of death like patriarchy and racism.
2.-The tragedy of the military, oligarchic and media coup d'etat, orchestrated and financed by U.S. imperialism and the international right-wing, has created a state of general regression of Honduran society, has violated individual, collective, political, economic, environmental, cultural, and social rights, to such a degree that it has completely broken down the Honduran constitutional system, with this coup d'etat they try to guarantee the great oligarchic and transnational interests and deepen the project of domination accompanied by strategies of militarization and brutal repression.
3.- This inheritance of death forms part of the arrival of Mr. Porfirio Lobo Sosa to the "presidency" of Honduras, who will inherit at the same time an enormous un-governability and political and economic crisis.

Because of the above we have decided:

1.- To reaffirm our historic disposition to struggle against death, whether it is called capitalism, patriarchy or racism, as was taught to us by our Man of the Mountain and our people who through 500 years have defended its territories, its autonomies and its culture and has condemned militarization and invasive power. We will struggle against the projects of plunder and privatization of our knowledge, water, land, territory, forest, mineral and metallic resources, public services, cultural richness and life itself.

2.- To reaffirm that we will continue in the struggle against the dictatorship, the coup d'etat and against the coup-backers and that we will intensify the work, the collective construction, the mobilization and organization to, along with the rest of the social movement, achieve the installation of a Popular Democratic National Constitutional Assembly of the people and to push for the re-founding of the Honduran nation.

3.- To condemn the systemic threatening and violation of human rights against members of COPINH communities by the unchecked repressive forces such as the military, the police, the air force, death squads, municipal coup authorities, the public ministry, among others.
4.- To salute the heroic resistance of the Honduran people expressed through the most diverse sectors and multiple and creative forms that teach us about the dignity, ability and commitment of the people.

5- To encourage the social and political movement to carry forth an emancipatory process and to re-found our country so that we can expeditiously deepen the organization, mobilization and consensus that makes us advance towards unity and the creation of a coming together of forces with ability and valor to take a determined and historic step.

With the ancestral force of Lempira, Icelaka and Etempica we raise our voices of live, justice, liberty and peace!
Those who die for life cannot be called dead!
He is coming and he comes with us from the end of the forgotten!

Declaracion del 8va. Asamblea General del COPINH - “Mártires de la Resistencia Contra el Golpe de Estado”

DECLARACION - 8va.

Another young member of resistance Renán Fajardo Argueta found dead

Committee of Family Members of the Detained and Disappeared of Honduras (COFADEH) dnounces crime committed against Renán Fajardo Argueta

The Committee of Family Members of the Detained and Dsiappeared in Honduras, COFADEH, denounces the crime committed Teusday afternoon against the young man Edwin Renán Fajardo Argueta (22), an active member of the Resistance. His body was found this past December 23rd in the afternoon after a constant search by family members and friends worried about his absence as he was supposed to travel on Wednesday to Roatán, Islas de la Bahía, for Christmas with his family.

COFADEH received the information about finding his body in an apartment in the San Rafael neighborhood in Tegucigalpa, in the Villar Rosales Building, where he had lived for a long time. There was a cord found around his neck and a broom stick behind his head and there were signs of violence as everything was strewn about. The act may have occurred between four and five in the afternoon on Tuesday December 22nd.

His killers tried to simulate a suicide but his body was found in a small closet of his apartment bleeding from its nose and his body was dirty like it had been tied up according to the neighbors who saw the scene of the crime. The people responsible for his death took his camera and a computer.

On Monday of this week he had communicated to friends that he was very worried because he felt pursued because he had received text messages in his telephone and didn't want to leave for
Roatán where his family was because of the danger of being in public places and that's also why he didn't want to go see friends who wanted to meet up.

Several neighbors said they had seen suspicious cars without license plates and with tinted windows circulating around the area in recent days, this has generated much fear because since August strange things have been seen.

His die-hard activism in the National Front of Resistance included participation in marches, sit-ins, and all the activities by that organization of which he was always in the front lines and where he took photographs with the camera that they stole from him. He also traveled to different places around the country to raise consciousness about the need for a National Constitutional Assembly.

Edwin Renán was a very admired young man in his neighborhood for being so respectful and responsible. The apartments he lived in were very secure, nobody could enter if they didn't live in them.

An agent of the investigation manifested that the autopsy will determine the causes of his death and added that in his neck was the cord and the broom stick behind his head and that, "it would be hard for it to have been a suicide because the broomstick would have broken with the weight of his body," he said. A vigil for Edwin Renán will happen in the building where he lived and his body will be taken to Roatán at seven in the morning.

COFADEH condemns this new act of violence that blinds the life of a young man with a promising future for Honduras. The killings of active members of the Resistance have increased in recent days in a selective way, using simulations of criminal violence to cover up the deaths.

We make an urgent call to the international community and especially to human rights organizations to carry out urgent necessary actions to stop this human hunt against the Honduran population who continues in resistance since the 28th of June when the military-political-business-imperialist coup was perpetrated.

WE NEITHER FORGET NOR FORGIVE THE ACTS OR THE ACTORS

From Isis Obed to Walter Trochez - Death is not in vain

Honduras Resists preface: In recent days repression in Honduras has continued to escalate. With the eyes of the corporate press off of Honduras, the extreme right, who has seen Honduras as a strategic staging ground for their counter-offensive against the rise of grassroots alternatives to capitalism in Latin America, is now attempting to eliminate the unexpected consequences of the coup. The Honduran government, with financing and collaboration from the U.S. and from the extreme right throughout the hemisphere, has resorted to extreme force, disappearances and assassinations. But this desperation is a sign of weakness and fear, not strength. It is precisely the growing force of the resistance in Honduras, the deepening of their dreams that are the dreams of oppressed peoples everywhere for a system based on popular participation and social and economic justice, that worries the oligarchy so much they feel they must escalate already horrendous repression. But this resistance grew out of a deep sense of possibility and a defiance of misery and oppression and every attempt to consolidate the coup through repression has been and will be met with a deepening of that resistance. The following commentary, commemorating two of the youth killed in the struggle against the coup, makes this point beautifully. It is from one of the leaders of a youth movement in Honduras called Los Necios that has been integral to the National Front of Popular Resistance.

From Isis Obed to Walter Trochez

Those of us who, alongside hundreds of thousands of other Hondurans, witnessed Isis Obed's death announced by Oscar Andrés Rodriguez the Saturday before the tragic afternoon at the airport, during the first frustrated return of President Manuel Zelaya, and seven days after the military coup, have fresh memories of his blood.

An entire generation in revolt awoke on June 28. Those who were minors during war, those born in the midst of an unequal democracy perfected through the years by the Honduran oligarchy and imperialism. Everyone subdued by the hopes of consumerism, in voluntary submission to exploitation, controlled by the mirage of a free market economy, prison of the soul, of the
imagination and of humanity: we Hondurans used to live in peace.

Suddenly consciousness has come, youth take their freedom seriously; the country lives daily a dizzying process of consciousness and struggle; injustice is rejected and now we easily associate the two party system with the oligarchy, injustice with capitalism, Coup d’état with fascism, hypocrisy with Obama and imperialism with underdevelopment.

Only a few months ago “National Identity” was an indescribable paradigm of confusing dreams imposed by a pro-oligarchy civil society; the Copan ruins are more known in situ by foreigners than by nationals; the national soccer team built out from private owned clubs that deprive the majorities from access to sports leaving them with only expectation. Today the popular national identity is fully summarized in one word: Resistance.

Historical Memory was the memories of American trilogies and canned TV series that we associated with stages in our lives and a television schedule. '82 was the
year of the World Cup. Today 1982 is for all the memory of the worsening of the national security doctrine; the people who disappeared in the 80’s now reappear in our conscience and Historical Memory is a concept filled with peasant struggles against rancid landlords and ranchers, workers against oligarchs, students against imperialism, women for peace and human rights organizations versus the fascists of capitalism.

Popular Culture was Britney Spears, the Spicegirls, Michel Jackson and a group named Rebelde (above all rebellious to art and intelligence).
Modern formulaic pop echoing the emptiness of the alienated youth of the North without substance, leading to ingenious suicides and massacres. Today Popular Culture is Café Guancasco, Nelson Pavón and his el "perro feliz," Tito Ochoa’s Memory Theater and its superb cast and all the artists in resistance. Art of freedom that liberates and democratizes culture, nourished by popular applause and humble smiles. Revolutionary artists that craft technique with rigor and life with joy; producers and multipliers of the collective imagination.

Women, who have struggled historically to be taken into account, took into account the streets, the walls, the fight against police officers, repressive men, the very reproducers of the patriarchy they live through in peacetime. Husbands with uniforms; a bit more of the same. In [the banana strike of] 1954 they also created a space, the result of which was the recognition of the right to vote less than a year later. Now? Perhaps they should take into account their absolute majority, as absolute as it has been in the streets and in the struggle.

Hoarse cries of women, men that walk in curves, multicolored flags. Men or women? No, neither one nor the other. Human beings with the sexuality they feel, no prejudices, no labels. They discovered freedom of sex and sexuality, they march asking for democracy and a little respect for their intimacy and decisions. They
exceed us in diversity, discipline and courage. With them, Walter Trochez releasing political prisoners, denouncing abuses, fighting in the frontline against brutality. Tortured, he goes back to the streets and falls to the bullets approved by [U.S. ambassador] Llorens in his yearly budget.

Honduras continues its path of liberation while it reflects on and is surprised by the real underdevelopment in which it lived, the few conscientious Hondurans of that time would be amazed at the tortuous and difficult process lived through today by the people of Morazán facing such small and historical battles because we lived in the middle ages and it is difficult to overcome, nonetheless beyond resisting barbarity without a doubt we are advancing and we will win.

From Isis Obed to Walter Trochez, death is not in vain.

Two Detained and Fear of Evictions by Coup Security Forces in Land Recuperations in Colón

Two Detained and Fear of Evictions by Coup Security Forces in Land Recuperations in Colón
by Sandra Cuffe
- December 17, 2009
http://hondurassolidarity.wordpress.com/

Two active members of the Aguan Farmworkers Unification Movement (MUCA) were detained at approximately 11am yesterday, December 16th when they left a land recuperation in the department of Colon, in northeastern Honduras.

Osman Alexis Ulloa Flores and Mario René Ayala were taken to the police station in Tocoa and remain in detention in the city. Local police authorities refused to comment via telephone on the arrest or charges. However, the local district attorney was able to confirm that the men have been charged with land usurpation, while resistance lawyers in the region confirmed that the accusing party is the Cressida Corporation owned by powerful businessman and landowner Miguel Facussé Barjum.

[update, 6:30pm Dec. 17th: Late this afternoon, Ulloa Flores and Ayala were released with conditions after their appearance before a judge. They must appear in court every two weeks until their trial.]

One week prior to the detentions, approximately one thousand families belonging to MUCA staged two simultaneous recuperations of contested lands in Colon. Claimed by Miguel Facussé, the La Confianza Cooperative in the municipality of Tocoa includes a producing African palm plantation. The San Esteban Cooperative in the municipality of Trujillo, meanwhile, is claimed by Nicaraguan landowner René Morales. Prior to the mid-1990s, a period commonly referred to as the ‘agrarian counter-reform’ of Honduras, the lands in question belonged to agricultural cooperatives co-owned by many of the very same farmworkers now involved in the MUCA actions.

The land ownership by farmworker cooperatives was largely dismantled after the Agricultural Sector Modernization and Development Law came was passed in 1992, during the Callejas administration. The law enabled the division and sale of the cooperative landholdings previously established as inalienable under the agrarian reform policies of the 1960s and 70s. While many cooperative members still possess definitive land titles granted by the National Agrarian Institute, the farmworkers’ movements have long denounced the acquisition of cooperative lands by large landowners as a process rife with threats, coercion, fraud, irregularities, and other abuses, committed both by the State and the landowners themselves.

“They took over the lands,” exclaimed Joni Rivas, a local leader and MUCA member speaking from the La Confianza recuperation, “and we demanded clarification.”

The 28 smaller groups that now conform MUCA began to organize together for land and justice in the Aguan region seven years ago, explained Rivas. The struggle for the La Confianza and San Esteban cooperative lands gained momentum during the presidency of Manuel Zelaya, when MUCA resorted to protest actions to highlight the urgency of the families’ demands for an investigation into the controversial land claims and transactions. MUCA’s February 2006 peaceful demonstration blocking the main highway along northern Honduras was met with a rapid response by a government commission, promising to address the issue. Countless months passed, however, with no concrete results.

Earlier this year, on June 8th, 2009, MUCA blocked the access road to Miguel Facussé’s African palm oil processing plant in the contested lands. On June 12th, a high-level governmental commission and MUCA reached another agreement, which was then endorsed and signed by President Manuel Zelaya himself in front of the affected families one week later, on June 19th. Once again involving a commitment by the Honduran government to fully investigate and clarify the conflict over land titles in the area, the new agreement included a strict deadline. MUCA would lift the protest actions during the government investigation, but point number six established that these would resume if the government did not keep up its end of the bargain by July 10th 2009 at the absolute latest.

“Then came the coup d’état,” lamented Rivas.

The government of Manuel Zelaya was overthrown by a military coup on June 28th, shattering democracy and constitutional order in Honduras, as well as the agreement between the Zelaya administration and MUCA. More than five months of daily resistance and repression later, the thousand families struggling for land in the lower Aguan region were back to square one.

“The coup was also a product of that,” explained a community leader from the neighbouring Aguan Farmworkers Movement (MCA), referring to the potential threat the government investigation posed to the powerful interests of Facussé and other landowners in the region. With its own long experience of occupying the lands of a former Cold War era regional military training center and establishing the community of Guadalupe Carney in the area, the MCA also actively participated in the national resistance movement to the coup. Similar to resistance mobilizations around the country, frequent blockades of the highway between Tocoa and Trujillo throughout the latter half of 2009 were met with the massive displacement of State security forces, including both police and army.

All of the country’s farmworkers federations participated in the resistance to the coup, and many movements were the targets of severe repression, including threats, arrests, physical attacks, and evictions. Unknown assailants shot at the Via Campesina office in Tegucigalpa the night of August 11th, only weeks after well-known coordinator Rafael Alegría was arrested. On September 30th, after an executive decree essentially declared a state of siege and suspended many basic rights and freedoms, the army evicted the three month-long occupation of the National Agrarian Institute (INA) in Tegucigalpa, arresting over fifty farmworkers. One of the main reasons cited by farmworker federations for the sustained action was their fear that crucial land documentation would disappear in the hands of the de facto government. Later on November 28th, only one day before elections, State security forces illegally raided the installations of the alternative trade and rural commercialization network Red COMAL in Siguatepeque, Comayagua.

Back in the Aguan, the threat of repression is much more immediate. MUCA has received reports that eviction orders have been drawn up, along with news of extraordinary police movement in the area. The arrests of Osman Alexis Ulloa Flores and Mario René Ayala shortly after they left the recuperation would seem to indicate that the police are closely monitoring activity. The Committee of Relatives of the Detained-Disappeared in Honduras (COFADEH), a well-known human rights organization, denounced reports of arrest warrants issued for MUCA activists Miguel Ángel Funes, Jorge Antonio Rivas López, Pedro Marcial Zambrano, Luciano Erazo Carbajal, Ángel María Guevara, Maximiliano Ramírez, Magdiel López, José Castillo, Pedro Castillo, and Santos Menjivar.

“We are worried about people being detained, given that the judicial system is now on holidays,” explained COFADEH lawyer Carol Cardenas, as she prepared an habeas corpus writ shortly after the detention of Ulloa Flores and Ayala by masked men in an unmarked car was reported in the Aguan. The entire judicial system of Honduras is on vacation from December 15th until January 2nd, with courts and offices minimally staffed by a rotating roster of judicial employees.

“We condemn any act of repression by the repressive State apparatus,” said Rivas back in La Confianza, “and hold [landowners] Facussé, Morales, and Canales responsible for anything that might happen to us.”

“We want the world to know that we no longer withstand the conditions under which we have been forced to live.”

National Resistance Front Declaration: "We are a real power throughout the country... armed with the social consciousness forged in the struggle."

NATIONAL FRONT OF POPULAR RESISTANCE
Siguatepeque Declaration

The Honduran Resistance has been able to stand with dignity in the face of the onslaught from the enemies of freedom and democracy. During almost 6 months of continuous peaceful but vehement struggle we have established that we do not accept any way out of the crisis other than to re-establish the institutional order, punish the violators of human rights and the install a National Constitutional Assembly. We do not ask submissively for a favor from the usurpers, we are conscious of our power and our capacity. We are a real power, made up by grassroots organizations around the whole country where true democracy is practiced. We are legitimated by the sacrifice of a people armed with the social consciousness forged in the struggles of the popular movement, the spirituality of the poor and the example of men and women who have given their lives to transform the country.

The enemies of the people, the exploitative oligarchy that enriches itself with the misery of workers and the theft of their resources; the transnational companies who plunder the
country and swindle the State; the ecclesiastic leadership, merchants of faith who take advantage of ignorance; the military and police always willing to kill, rape and beat the people for money; the phalanx of servants who because of alienation or interest guard the riches robbed by others; all of them, those who for many years used a weak representative democracy as a method to validate their political power and their economic system of exploitation and marginalization, ended up revealing their genocidal and totalitarian nature, and closed off the small spaces of participation to stop the project of Morazán [Honduran independence leader] that made possible that for the first time an unexpected leader could question the hegemony of the millionaires and would dare to commit the un-pardonable sin of giving to the people the opportunity to speak and make decisions.

The current social and political crisis is the sharpening of the conflict that developed years ago as the stingy interests of the oligarchic business groups clashed against the necessities and rights of the popular sectors: Peasants, workers, the indigenous, blacks, LGTB groups, artists, marginalized urban populations, micro, small and medium businesspeople, environmental movements, feminists, student organizations, progressive and democratic political forces, teachers, professionals, human rights groups, youth, popular churches and other groupings of the people, which travel a slow but decided path of unity, taken up by necessity in the face of the application of a neoliberal model that raises class contradictions and a coup d'etat that ended up revealing the unwillingness of a minority to distribute the wealth generated by the work of everybody.

It is a bitter battle. The right has control of the state, the support of the reactionary governments of the world, the mass media and the repressive bodies. But the social processes aren't held back by media campaigns, they can't be reversed with arms and they can't be numbed by the false pleas of the oligarchy's pastors. Much less can they paralyze the people with electoral shams or false calls for national dialogs where they ask us to sacrifice dignity for a false peace in which misery and wealth continue to co-exist.

The accelerated degeneration of the coup is inevitable, the business logic and arrogance will lead it do be cut into pieces when it loots the state and applies without regard the worn-out economic model that assures continued capital accumulation.

That decadent class doesn't understand the high spirits of a people that is no longer content with reforms and that is struggling for the complete re-foundation of the State. A people that has been called on to raise their level of national organization and coordination to defeat the dictatorship and lay the foundations of a participatory democracy that assures the fulfillment of the demands of social justice and punishes the criminals who did not respect human rights.

It is also an international battle. The coup was conceived within a plan of regional control by the transnational economic powers to stop and revert the processes of social change in Latin America, that are demonstrating the possibility of creating democratic and just societies as sovereign states. The coup d'etat in Honduras goes along with Plan Colombia, with the reactivation of the fourth fleet [of the U.S. navy], with the economic blockade on Cuba, with the besieging of Venezuela, with the destabilization plans in Bolivia and Ecuador. The coup is the attempt to return to a Latin America belonging to Texaco, the United Fruit
Company, Bayer, Monsanto, Esso, Exxon Mobil, Cargill, Alcoa, Walmart, Nestle, Toyota, Citigroup, Coca Cola and others.

But the Honduran Resistance is not alone, we know we are accompanied by the honest peoples and governments of the world; we are brothers of the popular, democratic and revolutionary organizations of Latin America. The manifestations of solidarity and commitments to sustain them that we have received are innumerable.

Honduras today is a stage of debate for its own future and that of many peoples. That is why there cannot be any other outcome than victory.

In Resistance we will go forward to the end, towards the transformation of the homeland, towards the integration of Central America and Latin America, towards the complete sovereignty of our peoples, towards freedom, equality and justice.
Long live the heroic people of Morazán!

We Resist and we will Win!

asegura seguir acumulando capitales.

¡Resistimos y Venceremos!

Walter Tróchez, active member of resistance and defender of human rights of Honduran LGBTQ community MURDERED

Walter Tróchez, the human rigths defender, member of the gay, lesbian, trans and bisexual community and active member of the National Front of Resistance Against the Coup d'Etat, was killed this morning. Below there is a denunciation from the human rights organization CIPRODEH, a press release from Feminists in Resistance, and a denunciation written by Walter before he died about the repression against the LGBTQ community in Honduras under the de facto government.

Killing of human rights defender Walter Tróchez

On December 4th
the human rigths defender, member of the gay, lesbian, trans and bisexual community and active member of the National Front of Resistance Against the Coup d'Etat Walter Tróchez was kidnapped and savagely beaten around the Obelisco Park of Comayaguela by four masked men who came in a gray pickup truck without plates, presumably from the police investigative unit (DNIC) (a vehicle of similar description that he had denounced a few months back had been watching his home, forcing him to move).

On that day the kidnappers told him they knew him well and they were going to kill him. They hooded him, insulted him, and began to interrogate him about the resistance, asking for information about its leaders and its movements. At that time he managed to escape alive, and the next day he filed a complaint with national and international authorities.

Today we have been informed that he has been assassinated by two gunshots just outside of Larach & Co. in the center of Tegucigalpa.

We denounce this deplorable act before all Hondurans and the international community; this death adds to the more than ten deaths already suffered by the gay, lesbian, trans and bisexual community of Honduras and to the persecution, harassment and threats suffered by human rights defenders and organizations since June 28th under the coup regime.

We demand to the authorities that this crime not go unpunished, that an investigation be carried forth and those responsible for it be uncovered.

We demand that the State of Honduras guarantee the physical integrity and life of those people involved in human rights work, that it respect and comply with treaties and international conventions that protect human rights defenders and the people in general.

We demand an end to the persecution, threats and harassment to which individuals, leaders and organizations who oppose and differ ideologically from the de facto regime are subjected.

Press Release from Feminists in Resistance

The grave political conflicts generated by the coup d'etat in Honduras and the subsequent setting up of a fascist dictatorship have imposed an environment of repression, ignoring and violation of Human Rights. As Feminists in Resistance we pronounce and denounce the following before the national and international community:

This morning Walter Trochez, defender of human rights, especially of the LGTTTBI community was killed. He was fired at in the center of Tegucigalpa from a moving car. He was taken to the Escuela Hospital where he died.

Friday December 4th, Walter suffered a brutal attack and was able to escape death. His attackers reproached his participation in the Front of Resistance.

For a National Constitutional Assembly we Resist and we will Win!
For freedom and respect for the life of the people in resistance!
Neither coup d'etats nor beating of women!

For the emancipation of women and all oppressed people!

December 14th, 2009

Walter Tróchez had denounced the harassment and violations against the LGTTB months ago. We reproduce his denunciation below:

Increasing of hate crimes and homophobia towards LGTTB community because of Civic-Religious-Military coup d'etat in Honduras

The civic-military coup d'etat that took place in Honduras the 28th of June has brutally knocked down the new perspective that had been opening up in Latin America in the 21st century. In effect, the region over the last ten years had been marked by the installation of governments with different characteristics whose common denominator was that they meant a change with regards to the neoliberal politics that had reached their height in the region in the last decade of the twentieth century. In many cases the parliamentary form assumed by the governments in the region masked to a certain point the continuity and identity of the social and economic politics of neoliberalism with those installed in the epoch of the military dictatorships. The situation in
Honduras makes clear the impossibility of separating the economic and social policies of neoliberalism and the interests in whose service the crimes against humanity were perpetrated by de facto governments.

It also makes clear a fact somewhat disguised by the rhetoric of "consensus" and "tolerance" to which they tried to reduce the notion of democracy in the period after the military dictatorships and civil wars that devastated the region: not just the persistence but the rearming of the civilian sectors who in other epoch ran to the security and armed forces to impose their interests and who now easily combine their adaptation to the democratic proceedings with the known arrogance and illegality with which they impose their will on groups who are somewhat below them, somewhat their accomplices
. Without going further, it isn't difficult to see in the forces who took advantage of the legislative elections in Argentina that same June 28th 28 the support, in some cases explicit, for the Coup d'Etat in Honduras and a commonality of interests with the business class, the media corporations and the Catholic and Evangelical Churches who promoted it. For our purposes it serves to make clear the explicit support of the religious leadership in Honduras to the military coup d'etat which on June 28th, 2009, impeded the carrying out of a plebiscite organized by a legitimate constitutional government and put the Dictator Roberto Micheletti into the Executive Power.

A press release from the Episcopal Conference of Honduras, signed by the eleven bishops of the Catholic Church, justified with supposed constitutional foundations the kidnapping, the transitory disappearance and the expulsion from the country of the constitutional president: “the institutions of the democratic Honduran state are in effect and their judicial and legal execution have followed the law...". In addition it defines the current situation as a "new departure point for dialogue, for consensus and reconciliation..." On the other side, the social movements, especially the LGTTB community, peasants and indigenous peoples of the country, didn't wait to react, including Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transexual and Transvesites
(LGTTB), organizations, networks and movements of youth, Afro-descendant organizations, women's organizations, human rights activists and defenders, human rights organizations and networks, all condemning the coup and calling for regional and international solidarity with the rule of law and with the victims of the repression by the de facto government.

The LGTTB organizations, netoworks and movements in resistance, for example, condemn "the political-military coup against the state of honduras with the financial support of the ultra-right businessmen of Latin America and North America, the promotion of the national media corporations, the protection of the Ombudsman, Ramón Custodio, the National Commissioner of Human Rights in Honduras (CONADEH) and the blessing of the Catholic and Evangelical churches" through their highest representatives like Cardinal Oscar Andres Rodríguez, monseñor Darwin Andino, Pasquel Rodríguez, Monseñor Garachana of the San Pedro Sula diocese, pastor Oswaldo Canales current president of the National Anti-corruption Council CNA, pastor Evelio Pistero of the Vida y pisto Abundante Church, Pastor René Peñalba and pastor Alberto Solórzano and the elder co-founders of the Evangelical Church CCI . They [the LGTTB organizations] express their "unrestricted support of the return to the constitutional order in
Honduras which requires the restoration of democracy" and demand "the cease of repression lived through by activists and human rights defenders, the organizations that pronounce themselves against the coup d'etat by the retired military and police bodies responsible for the disappearances of the 80's in Honduras commanded by the assassin Billy Joya.

“For its part the LGTTB Rainbow Association and the TTT Collective of the City of San Pedro Sula, activists and defenders of human rights, denounce that since the coup d'etat there have been more hate crimes and homophobia promoted by the Honduran Religious Leadership in complicity with the Oppressive Groups like the Armed Forces, the National Secretary of Security, Private Enterprises, the Pro-Life Groups, Opus Dei, etc.. These crimes make evident once again the high levels of hate, stigma and discrimination against people of diverse sexualities which we call out as homophobia, lesbophobia, biphobia, and above all transphobia, suffered by those of us who have a different sexual orientation or gender identity from the heterosexual norm. On the ocassion of the loss of two friends this last week, we reiterate that it is NOT ACCEPTABLE that in these last four months, during such a short period, 9 trans and gay sisters and brothers have died cruelly and violently, 6 of them in
San Pedro Sula and 3 in Tegucigalpa.”

The martyrs of the LGTTB community:
1. Viki Hernández June 29th, San Pedro Sula
2. Martina Jackson June 30th, Choloma

3. Fabio Zamora July 5th, Tegucigalpa
4. Héctor Maradiaga August 11th, Tegucigalpa

5. Michelle Torres August 30th, San Pedro Sula
6. Salomé Miranda September 20th, Choloma

7. Saira Salmerón
September 20th, Choloma
8. Marión Lanza October 9th, Tegucigalpa

9. Montserrat Maradiaga October 11th, San Pedro Sula.
